We are delighted to announce that our Chef Patron, Anand George, will be hosting an interactive spice masterclass at The Great British Curry Festival: The Global Edition this August.
Taking place at Lo Lounge in Cardiff Bay on Saturday 15 August, the festival will bring together the flavours, stories and traditions of curry from around the world, celebrating the many distinctive ways this remarkable cuisine has evolved across different cultures.
During his masterclass, Anand will explore the colour, aroma and extraordinary complexity of Indian spices, demonstrating how carefully selected spices are toasted, blended and layered to transform ingredients and create depth of flavour.
For Anand, spice is about far more than heat. It is about balance, fragrance, freshness and understanding how individual flavours work together. This interactive session will offer guests the opportunity to get closer to the craft behind his award-winning cooking, ask questions and discover some of the techniques that shape the food we serve at Purple Poppadom.
Anand’s cooking has always been rooted in the regional traditions of India, particularly the flavours of his native Kerala, while bringing his own distinctive creativity to every dish. At Purple Poppadom, we continue to cook from first principles, using whole spices, fresh produce and dishes prepared to order.
Whether you are a passionate home cook, a food lover or simply curious to learn more about the world of spice, Anand’s masterclass promises to be a fascinating and flavour-filled part of the festival.
