Glamorgan Cricket have joined forces with Anand George and the team at Purple Poppadom for the hotly-anticipated Royal London One-Day International between England and India which will take place at the SWALEC Stadium later this month.

As England prepare to go head to head with the current Cricket World Champions in a spectacular summer showdown, Glamorgan are busy doing everything possible to welcome the arrival of one of cricket’s biggest international teams to Cardiff.

Keen cricket fan, Anand was invited to provide fans with some of the finest Nouvelle Indian Cuisine the city has to offer and Glamorgan Captain Mark Wallace and England Lions player James Harris were more than happy to take part in a taste test ahead of the big match!

Swapping curry making tips for cricketing insight, Anand and his team were put through their paces in a cricketing skills session led by the Glamorgan stars.

Speaking about the partnership, Anand said:

“Everyone at Purple Poppadom are passionate about cricket and we have our own weekend team. Quite a lot of the Glamorgan players come to the restaurant and we are proud to have hosted cricketing greats including Brian Lara and Sourav Ganguly. The whole team is looking forward to being a part of this exciting sporting event in Cardiff.”

Happy to indulge in the fine food on offer, Glamorgan’s Club Captain Mark Wallace added:“With just a couple of weeks to go, the excitement is really building ahead of the England v India ODI. It’s the only international match in Wales this year and India fans travel from all over to make a carnival atmosphere, so it’s not to be missed.

“Anand is also easily one of the top chefs in Wales, as well as a massive cricket fan, so it’s great that he has joined us to be part of the hottest sporting event taking place in Wales this summer.”

The ODI is expected to attract a television audience of around 100 million as fans on both sides of the globe tune in to what promises to be a fixture to remember.

The game will be the only international game to be played in Wales this year and promises big scores, big hits along with a vibrant carnival atmosphere.

A limited number of match tickets are still available for the event. For more information please visit:

At first it may seem expensive, but once you are on the course you soon realise it is very good value for money. The keep-sake ‘Anand George’ recipe book and denim apron, the sample food throughout the day and taster meal

The starter of aloo chaat was incredible. The staff were really friendly and the service was great. I am looking forward to going back

The portions are smaller than normal but the food is perfectly cooked. The service was also excellent and quick. They have adequate professional number of staff who were always nearby to attend

    • Review via Tripadvisor by DenisinWales on 26th September 2018 1st despite the very long sign board covering 2 store fronts, the entrance is a tiny door at the far left. Once you climb to the 1st floor, you are greeted with a very understated and tasteful restaurant seating about 60-70 people. For a Tuesday night

    • Review by Ellym106, TripAdvisor, April 2018 We had an excellent meal here. We visited India in November and know how the food is supposed to be – and this is it! Everything was beautifully cooked and full of flavour, with our particular favourites being the onion pakoras, laccha parathas and the planner makhni – the
