Creative Indian Cookery and a lively buzz

The Good Food describes the work of Anand George as “giving his creativity free rein at the Purple Poppadom, a modern first-floor restaurant in Canton, serving a dazzling mix of inventive and and traditional dishes.  Food is pitched significantly above your average curry house fare, and the funky pink and purple decor and lively buzz create a relaxed, informal mood.  A starter of scallops poached in moilee sauce set beside a spice-encrusted scallop with black grape and fresh ginger dressing is typical of Georges ability to put a modern spin on traditional flavours. To follow, a main course of Murgh Chatpa Kolhapur (chicken with a thick tangy onion and tomato sauce flavoured with fenugreek leaves and lemon juice has show-stopping freshness and complexity. For dessert, George’s trademark chocomosa makes a fun and satisfying conclusion.
