With an Ocean theme to much of their menu, three out of four had fish at our 36th wedding anniversary celebration. Mine was Monkfish Medley, a piece of spiced fish with a marinade of lime and chillies and a fish pie with mashed potato and fennel. Everything worked well together and presented on a wooden board.
Our mistake was to order side dishes as the Ocean mains stood on their own feet. The waiter did try to restrain us but we still ordered too much.
The dessert menu is limited but still difficult as they are to die for. Three of us chose the Chef’s Selection that gave you three small choices – a chocolate pastry parcel, a star anise pannacotta and a rose-infused steamed yoghurt. If I had to make a choice, it would be between the pannacotta and yoghurt; I’m more a dark chocolate guy. Beautifully presented and great flavours for all of them.
Finally, ignore the area – it’s rough! There is a large free car park behind the opposite side of the street; parking in Cardiff can be challenging.
