We are delighted to share that Purple Poppadom has been awarded a Bib Gourmand by the MICHELIN Guide, becoming one of only two new restaurants in Wales to receive this prestigious recognition.

The Bib Gourmand is one of the MICHELIN Guide’s most respected awards, celebrating restaurants that offer exceptional food at outstanding value. It recognises places where diners can enjoy cooking full of flavour, personality and generosity — food that people return for again and again.

The MICHELIN Guide inspectors praised Purple Poppadom for its confident, modern Indian cooking, highlighting the balance between creativity, technique and approachability. Our menus were recognised for delivering depth of flavour and refinement while remaining welcoming and accessible, staying true to the spirit of the Bib Gourmand award.

This recognition has also been featured on Wales Online, shining a spotlight on both our team and Cardiff’s growing reputation as an exciting food destination.

In an article entitled: ‘Two Welsh restaurants win huge Michelin accolade for ‘tremendous value,’ Kathryn Williams writes: ‘

Next week, February 9, the new Michelin stars will be announced live from Dublin. First, though, two highly regarded Welsh restaurants – The Gaff in Abergavenny and Cardiff’s Purple Poppadom – have been awarded the Bib Gourmand.’

According to the MICHELIN Guide, Bib Gourmand restaurants are those that demonstrate “carefully prepared food, full of character and flavour, that represents great value for money.” We are incredibly proud to see Purple Poppadom described in this way and to be included among such an inspiring group of restaurants across the UK.

Reacting, Chef Anand George of Purple Poppadom said of the new accolade: “It is an honour to be included. We work hard to make our cuisine accessible to people, with lunch offerings such as our All Together Now lunches and set menu offerings, such as All Set for the Weekend. We are also planning a new weekday set menu dinner offering, which we are excited to be launching soon. We thank the MICHELIN Guide and our customers for supporting us.”

For us, this award reflects our ongoing commitment to thoughtful cooking, warm hospitality and creating a dining experience that feels special and accessible without being formal or intimidating.”

We would like to thank our guests for their continued support, and our incredible team for their passion, creativity and dedication every single day.
