The Telegraph names Purple Poppadom One of The Best Restaurants in Cardiff

Hot on the heels of the Times newspaper including us in the Top 30 curry restaurants in the UK, The Telegraph has now named Purple Poppadom one of the Best Restaurants in Cardiff!

the daily telegraph names us one of the best“Even among the standout round-the-world selection of cuisines in Cardiff’s Canton neighbourhood, Purple Poppadom distinguishes itself.” Says The Telegraph and goes on to describe how our chef patron and founder Anand George ‘magics flavours of his native Kerala in Wales, presenting everything artistically.

Commenting on our latest accolade, Anand George said: “It is great to receive praise from the UK’s top newspapers, including The Times and The Telegraph, and also very good for Cardiff’s reputation as a culinary city. I can only thank the Purple Poppadom team for their consistent quality, for staying true to our vision of Nouvelle Indian Cuisine and of course, our great customers for their continued support.”

The Telegraph writes:

“An interior illuminated by globe pendant lamps and with seats and bar backlighting in varying hues of lilac and violet is where chef Anand George magics flavours of his native Kerala into Wales, presenting everything artistically. As in Kerala, seafood is important: tiffin sea bass, seared and served on curry leaf-infused mashed potato with raw mango, ginger and coconut sauce, is the must-try signature dish. And on weekday evenings the thalis (Indian café-style dishes served on platters) demand sampling.”

The starter of aloo chaat was incredible. The staff were really friendly and the service was great. I am looking forward to going back

The portions are smaller than normal but the food is perfectly cooked. The service was also excellent and quick. They have adequate professional number of staff who were always nearby to attend

    • Review via Tripadvisor by DenisinWales on 26th September 2018 1st despite the very long sign board covering 2 store fronts, the entrance is a tiny door at the far left. Once you climb to the 1st floor, you are greeted with a very understated and tasteful restaurant seating about 60-70 people. For a Tuesday night

    • Review by Ellym106, TripAdvisor, April 2018 We had an excellent meal here. We visited India in November and know how the food is supposed to be – and this is it!
